Following the instructions provided and designing science models using a set of lego bricks, a group of 420 students participated in Iken Scientifica City Final Competition organised at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan here on Sunday.
As part of the annual competition organised by Mexus Education Pvt. Limited in association with 5D Educational Initiatives Pvt. Limited (local coordinators), the science competition drew students from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam apart from the City of Destiny. Close to 1,200 students participated in the first round, out of which 420 went through to the next level.
After working on science models like hydraulic dump truck, robotic arm, gear and pulley system, farm reaper, sliding door and a row of other concepts, participants have also appeared for Viva where they had an opportunity to explain about the practical application of the concept designed.
The idea was to focus on the overall development of the children and offer hands-on solution to enhance the application of the process learnt, said one of the executive members of Mexus Education. “Each concept of the contest is designed on the basis of the curriculum of the academic year and as per the guidelines of National Council of Educational Research and Training. The complexity of the concept depends on the grade of the participants,” he explained.
“Winners of the city-level contest will visit Hyderabad at the cost of the company to take part at the regional-level competition. After which they would be participating at national and international levels. The final contestants will be taken to the US to exhibit their expertise at NASA,” local coordinator of Iken Scientifica N. Aruna Jyothi added.
