Apeejay student wins under-19 National Table Tennis Competition

Tejasvini Sareen, a Class IX student of Apeejay School in Pitampura, clinched the gold medal at the 58th School National Table Tennis Competition held recently at the Thyagraj Stadium here. She competed in the under-19 category and beat her rival from Tamil Nadu 3-1. It was her second consecutive victory as she had won the gold medal in the same category last year in the nationals held at Rajkot in Gujarat. School principal D. K. Bedi has congratulated her.

Global Family Day celebrated

Bharti Public School in Mayur Vihar here celebrated Global Family Day to promote the spirit of peace and sharing. A food fest was also organised on the occasion. A community lunch was also held on January 21 where the students got an opportunity to taste cuisines from India, Italy, Pakistan and China. Pre-primary and Class I students made finger and stick puppets of family members. The students are now all gearing up to celebrate Grandparents’ Day.

Cancer awareness session

St. Thomas Girls’ High School students held a session on the three main types of cancers affecting women, believing that the key factor in containing the incidence and mortality rate of cancer is awareness.

The presentation began with a street play followed by an informative video presentation on the formation and growth of cancer cells. Three interactive power-point presentations were also carefully woven into the play. The prime focus of the session was on ovarian cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer. General questions on the disease were also thrown at the audience and every good answer was rewarded with sweets.

Other activities like collage making and group discussions were also held. The school has also created a blog.
