Record year for Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House in Amsterdam set a new record for visitors last year as more than 1.15 million people came to the museum in 2012. That was about 48,000 more than in 2011.

More than 85 per cent of the visitors came from outside the country.Significance

The Jewish girl and her family lived in the house hidden from the Nazis during the World War II. Anne Frank was betrayed in 1944 and sent to a concentration camp and died in 1945 in Bergen-Belsen.DPA
