The 13th annual Puraskarams, 2012 of Dr. Ramineni Foundation USA will be given away at a special function here on October 12.
At a conference here on Saturday, Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that this year the Visishta Puraskaram would go to social activist P.D. Kameswara Rao, who would be presented with Rs.1 lakh in cash.
Three eminent personalities - leader of Library movement Velaga Venkatappaiah, educationist Alladi Uma and actor Ravi Kondala Rao will also be honoured on the occasion and will receive Rs.50,000 each.
Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah, Union Minister D. Purandeswari, Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao will attend the function organised to mark the birth anniversary of Ramineni Ayyanna Chowdary, founder of the foundation, who, while living in USA strove to practice the rich traditions of India, he said.
The Minister also said that the foundation would extend its services to the rural and tribal areas of Visakhapatnam district. The foundation will also honour teachers and students for achieving excellent academic results year after year.
