The contrast of colour and black-and-white is celebrated at the art exhibition by Annapoorani M., and Nivedha D. The young artists from Dr. GRD College of Science are students of Lalit Kalakshetra. The exhibition is being held at Senator 2, The Residency.
Annapoorani’s work is done in three media - oil, acrylic and colour pencils. Her paintings are about Nature and people and their relationship. The oil painting, ‘Incredibly Festive’ does justice to its theme, with splashes of bright red and yellow. ‘Magnificent Kovai’ depicts flowers, pots and even t hayir semiya , all of which are popular in Coimbatore. There’s also an abstract Ganesha in ethnic hues.
In contrast, Nivedha’s black-and-white works are done using stippling and acrylic. Her works feature animals, women and everyday activities. The hustle and bustle of Saibaba Colony features in ‘Diligent Mind’. ‘Bestie Family’ features a collage of animals, drawn using stippling. ‘Wordless Weep’ is her take on the recent gang rape in Delhi - it features a flower encircled by fiery red eyes.
All the paintings are for sale, and are priced from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 10,000.
The exhibition concludes on Sunday, and is on from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
