Author: Herman Melville

How far will a man’s quest for vengeance take him?  Moby-Dick  tells the tale of Captain Ahab, the captain of the whaling ship  Pequod , and his single-minded pursuit to kill Moby-Dick, an old albino sperm whale. Ahab who lost a leg while trying to capture the whale on a previous expedition, is consumed by a thirst for vengeance. Despite pleas from the people around to be reasonable, he leads his men on a fateful encounter with the whale. Melville was inspired to write the book upon reading about the capture of a huge albino whale called Mocha-Dick in the 1830s. First published in 1851, Moby-Dick is considered to be a classic of American literature.
