When I heard Mangalyan, I was really excited. Adding to that, I also read that Mangalyan will be made in such a way that it can decipher and find out things which even Curiosity couldn't find. It is really absurd to state that it is a financial burden for India. Mangalyaan is a source of pride for ISRO and Indians as a whole. Though it has cost a lot to our nation, it is truly useful as it is something which is going to tell the world what Indians are capable of. It is a source of pride for us and is definitely not a financial burden for the nation.

Launching so many missions to Mars leads to wastage of money and causes pollution. But on the other hand, take our Prime Minister's annual expenses for his flight charges for this year. The money used for the Mars mission is nothing compared to that figure. So maybe the space mission wasn’t that useless.

There is always a debate on this topic. Of course we are a developing country, hence we should go and explore space. Space technologies have benefitted our agriculture, communication and many other fields. Now we are exploring Mars. Indians must hold their heads high and hope this project becomes a triumph. We are becoming a tough competitors in the space industry to other countries.

“Education is the progressive discovery of our ignorance;  Exploration is the progressive discovery of our surroundings.”

Also India has just spent a fraction of America's expense for a mission to Mars.

With the Mars mission, India has really done something good and we should be proud of that. It’s not a waste as we have planned a very good space journey. We all should think of it positively and launch more satellites like Mangalyaan in the future.
