Students of the Madina Public School were recently explained about the significance of being a leader par excellence, at an Investiture Ceremony.

The ceremony started with an introduction of the newly-elected cabinet, followed by the much-awaited felicitation and presenting the investees with badges and sashes, in tune with their different portfolios, by K.M. Arifuddin, Secretary. The oath of office was administered by Headmistress P. Vilasini and the prefects pledged that they would abide by the rules and regulations of the school.

Head girl Hiba Tamkinath, in her speech of acceptance, assured the management and teachers that the prefects would carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and honesty and that they would leave no stone unturned in their endeavour to bring laurels to the school.

Students of Class X, Madiha Naseer and Jabeen Ansari presented a melodious invocation, followed by an impressive formation of the national tricolour and in different shapes like umbrella and the peacock too.

Splash at DRS

‘Splash’ – a painting activity for differently-abled children was conducted on Friday at DRS International School by Secure Giving in aid of Concern India Foundation. About 150 students from 8 schools in Hyderabad participated in the colourful event.

A platform was provided to encourage artistic ability among the differently-abled children at this fun painting event as they do not get too many of such opportunities. It was a half-day programme which included games, singing, dancing and a “sit-and-draw activity”.

The event was an eye opener for many of the students of the host - DRS International School -- as they saw dancing, singing and painting talents of their lesser-abled counterparts for the first time. All the children who participated were given return gifts. The event was also supported by State Bank of Hyderabad, Airtel, Cushman, Akshara Publishers and the employees of ITC.

Notebook donation

These days Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is being extended to schools as majority of children belonging to weaker sections are not in a position to meet the cost of buying books and stationery. Mahindra Satyam Associates has taken up a ‘Notebook Donation Drive’ to help school children.

About 500 kits, each with five notebooks and a stationery set, were donated to the school children on Thursday. The contribution was made to GVMC Model Primary School, Allipuram, NAD Aided High School, Mandal Parishat Primary School, Valluru in Denkada Mandal of Vizianagaram district and Peace Educational and Rural Development School.

Municipal Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu who took part in the programme at Allipuram, appreciated the commitment of the team for the initiative taken. The participating team included Location Head of Mahindra Satyam K. Viswanadham and other representatives of the company. The CSR activity includes providing basic education, improving livelihood, health and empowering weaker sections with disability and disaster management. Special Correspondent
