Lenovo’s giant 27-inch ‘coffee table PC’
Lenovo’s IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC works like a gigantic tablet and lets four people use it at once.
Lenovo Group Ltd. is calling it the first “interpersonal computer” as opposed to a “personal computer.”
It’s a 27-inch screen with the innards of a Windows 8 computer built into it, and it can stand up on a table.
But you can pick it up off the table, unhook the power cord and lay it flat.
It’s big enough to fit four people around it, and the screen can respond to ten fingers touching it at the same time. The screen is the size of eight iPads stitched together, and it weighs 6.8 kilograms.AP
Huawei big smartphones
Huawei Technologies has unveiled two phones, terming them the world’s “biggest” and the “most powerful” smartphones.
The Ascend Mate and the Ascend D2 were unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Ascend D2, is a small phone but with a high-definition screen with 443 pixels per inch.
The Ascend Mate has a 6.1-inch display compared to Samsung’s biggest smartphone to date, the Galaxy Note II, with a 5.5-inch display. It has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
Huawei says the standout feature, though, is the 4050mAh battery, which can provide 48 hours of power.IANS
Nokia new phones
Nokia has launched its full range of Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 devices in the Indian market.
Three models of Nokia Lumia were unveiled on Thursday.
With the latest range of Lumia WP8 devices, Nokia said it was all set to lead the change for the Windows Phone ecosystem with its Lumia differentiators.
Nokia Lumia 920, priced at Rs.38,199, will be available in yellow, red, white and black while Nokia Lumia 820, priced at Rs.27,559. The price for Nokia Lumia 620 has not been announced.
Panasonic’s bone-conduction TV headphones
People who don’t want to disturb sleeping family members could use this new product from Panasonic that doesn’t need speakers or even your own ears.
The headphones connect to a TV via the Bluetooth wireless standard and attach to your head like a normal set of headphones. But instead of using your ears, the headphones work like hearing aids by transmitting sound waves through your skull.AP
Apen Touch8 pen for Windows 8
Many people who have tried Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system without a touch screen have hated it because of the inability to use touch and swipe commands to get things going. Now, a company has made a digital pen to allow people to use Windows 8 on their old monitors for less than the cost of buying a new touch-enabled computer.
Apen Touch8 is a cordless pen that works in tandem with an attachment that plugs into the Windows computer’s USB port.
The battery should last about 500 hours and is replaceable.AP
