Neil Lennon says his squad must improve if they are to compete in the Champions League after the Scottish champions were sent crashing out of Europe following a 3-0 defeat by AC Milan in Glasgow on Tuesday.

“I think that [lack of quality to compete at the top level of Europe] has been apparent over the course of the campaign but realistically getting into the Champions League was fantastic for us,” the Celtic manager said.

“When the draw was made we knew how difficult it was going to be but we have competed.

“We competed again tonight (Tuesday) but just that lack of quality at the top end of the pitch has caught up with us, certainly this season anyway.”AFP
