Grizzlies draw even with Thunder
After getting dominated defensively by the Indiana Pacers in the opener, the New York Knicks returned the favour.
Carmelo Anthony scored half of his 32 points in a 36-4 second half run and the Knicks pounded the visiting Pacers 105-79 on Tuesday to square their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series at 1-1.
Iman Shumpert scored 15 points, Raymond Felton had 14 and Argentine Pablo Prigioni added 10 off the bench for the second-seeded Knicks, who bounced back from Sunday’s 102-95 game one loss. Trailing by three, the Knicks clamped down on their defence and went on a game-breaking 30-2 tear, bridging the third and fourth quarters for a commanding 92-66 lead behind Anthony.
After 14 straight misses, the Pacers finally ended the scoring drought with two free throws. But Quentin Richardson buried back-to-back three-pointers, pushing the cushion to 98-68 en route to the lopsided victory. Paul George scored 20 and David West added 13 for the third-seeded Pacers, who committed a whopping 21 turnovers, resulting in 32 points for their hosts in the blowout.
Western Conference results
Mike Conley had 26 points, including the go-ahead triple with 1 minute 58 seconds left along with 10 rebounds and nine assists, and the visiting Memphis Grizzlies beat Oklahoma City Thunder to even their Western Conference semifinals playoff series at 1-1.
Conley added a jumper and free throw for a 95-90 advantage as part of a 10-0 run, as the Grizzlies pulled away to steal home court advantage away from the top seeds.
Marc Gasol netted 24 points while Zach Randolph contributed 15 for the fifth-seeded Grizzlies.Game 1 hero Kevin Durant had 36 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists for the Thunder, who also got 19 points from Derek Fisher.DPA
