Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday suspended 40 teachers of various schools in Jammu district for unauthorised absence from duty.

A high-level committee constituted by Director, School Education, Sourabh Bhagat found teachers absent from duty during a surprise inspection, officials said. Headed by the Joint Director, Secondary Education, the committee ordered the suspension of teaching and non-teaching staff in various schools for unauthorized absence from duty.

At Government Higher Secondary School, Jagti of Jammu, the inspection team suspended 33 staff members, including the Principal as only 7 of the total 40 officials were present, officials said. Similarly, at Government Middle School, Jagti, 5 out of 9 staff members were found absent and were suspended and two more staff members were suspended at Government Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat in Jammu city.PTI
