With a big finish from LeBron James, the Miami Heat wave is still blistering, barely.

James drove across the lane for the game-winning left-handed layup with 3.2 seconds remaining (centre in picture), and the Heat extended its franchise-record winning streak to 16 games, after escaping the visiting upset-minded Orlando Magic 97-96 on Wednesday night.

With this win, the Heat moved within a victory of matching the LA Clippers for the league’s longest win streak of the season.

Dwyane Wade scored 24 points while Chris Bosh finished with 17 and 10 boards for Eastern Conference-leading Miami, which blew an early 20-point third-quarter cushion and trailed by four late in the contest before rallying to run its home-winning streak to 12.

Elsewhere, Memphis Grizzlies rallied to beat Portland Trail Blazers 91-85, LA Lakers downed New Orleans Hornets 108-102, New York Knicks thumped Detroit Pistons 87-77, Atlanta Hawks won against Philadelphia 76ers 107-96 and Minnesota Timberwolves got past Washington Wizards 87-82.

Toronto Raptors destroyed Phoenix Suns 98-71Dallas Mavericks edged over Houston Rockets 112-108, Boston Celtics pipped Indiana Pacers 83-81 and San Antonio Spurs rolled over Chicago Bulls 101-83.

Brooklyn Nets outscored Charlotte Bobcats 99-78, LA Clippers beat Milwaukee Bucks 117-101, Golden State Warriors defeated the visiting Sacramento Kings 87-83 and Cleveland Cavaliers got the better of Utah Jazz 104-101.DPA
