Talking about Rajasthan Royal’s emphatic 87-run win over Mumbai Indians, Royal’s captain Dravid said their strategies worked to perfection on Thursday night.

“The first six overs in batting and bowling were decisive. (Shane) Watson and (Ajinkya) Rahane had put on 62 on board and while defending, we reduced Mumbai to 26 for 2 by picking up the crucial wickets of Sachin and Ponting. This helped us tighten the noose,” he said.

Defending the 180-run target, Dravid opened the bowling with spinners Chandila and Chavan. While Chandila picked up the crucial wickets of Tendulkar and Ponting cheaply, Chavan just gave away 10 runs from his three overs.

“…Yes we promoted Dishant Yagnik up the order and the ploy worked as he gave the much required thrust to the innings,” Dravid said. Rajasthan Royals jumped to the top of the table with a 92-run victory over Mumbai Indiansat . Ajinkya Rahane’s 54-ball 68, helped Royals pile up 179 for three in 20 overs. Their bowlers skittled out Mumbai for 92 runs with 10 balls to spare.

Mishra at his stunning best

Earlier, leg-spinner Amit Mishra produced a stunning performance taking four wickets in five deliveries, including a hat-trick, as Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off an 11-run victory over Pune Warriors. Mishra (4/19) took the wickets with his second, fourth, fifth and sixth deliveries off his final over as Warriors were bowled out for 108 in 19 overs while chasing a target of 120 runs.PTI
