Presidency School Bangalore South, Bilekahalli, bade a fond farewell to its outgoing students of classes 10 and 12 at the valedictory function. Ravi Neelakantan, the former secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, was the chief guest and he delivered the keynote address.

He advised students to plan their future well, work hard, and be determined to become successful. He shared his experiences and told them not to run behind a lost opportunity but to prepare themselves for the new one, as new opportunities will keep coming. His speech focussed on the need to take up civil services a career because it gives an opportunity to serve the country. Parents should stand by their children even if the latter takes up a career that they themselves would not have thought of. ‘Cerf-volant’, French for ‘kite’, was the theme for the function. The kite symbolises the free spirit and the desire to soar high in spite of many impediments. The venue sported many high-flying kites that passed on the message to students that they should develop the the never-say-die spirit.

At the same function, school captains handed over the mantle of responsibilities to the vice-captains. Later, mementoes and awards were given away. The whole ambiance was electrified by the students of classes 9 and 11 with their band. Their mellifluous rendition of the songs “Seasons in the Sun” and “Time of your Life” epitomising the permanence of change, held everybody spellbound. A power point presentation emphasised the fact that the young generation is the custodian of the future. As they go higher in life they should realise the need to give back to society the fruits of their labour, from where they expanded their roots. Head boy Mithil Kumar, along with other students, took oath to be the ideal citizens of the country. Director of the Presidency Group of Schools G. Thangadurai, members of management Shah and Satyanarayan, and school principal J. Bhuvaneshwari, were present.

Graduation day

St. Ann’s High School and Venkat International Public School, Rajajinagar, held the graduation ceremony for its outgoing students. A. Ravindra, former IAS officer, and Vijayalakshmi Balekundri, Department of Paediatric Cardiology, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, were the chief guests.

Mr. Ravindra told the students to follow the path of righteousness in life. Dr. Balekundri spoke.

T. Balakrishna, chairman, St. Ann’s, Venus and Venkat Group of Institutions, advised the outgoing students to plan, prepare and produce the best work in life. The toppers in the previous year’s board examinations were also felicitated.

The teachers rendered a song for the outgoing students thus making the farewell an emotional one.
