The pre-primary wing of Oxford Grammar School under the guidance of the school management celebrated Christmas with a festive spirit on 21{+s}{+t}December at the school premises.

To explore the creativity of the students, the school organised a cake decoration activity within the classroom. The little ones of kindergarten made presented a colourful skit related to the birth of Jesus Christ wherein they dressed as Santa Claus, Joseph , Mother Mary, The Kings ( three Wiseman ) and the shepherds.

The programme was followed by a dance and Christmas carols by the teachers which ended well.BVB students win Geo Map Quiz

The Geo Map Quiz held at the NTR Gardens here, recently saw the enthusiastic participation of about 300 teams from 45 schools. Students eagerly showcased their map-reading skills. The theme of the competition was ‘Map Reading Made Interesting’ and the Geo Map Society incorporated two modules in the Quiz - Map Fun and Map Planning.

Nithya Reddy and Lasya of Class VI-A of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Jubilee Hills campus came first in the sub-juniors category.

Sports Meet at Army Public School

The elation of members of the Nilgiri House at the Army Public School on Saturday was simply boundless. And they had every reason to celebrate for they bagged the Sports Trophy at the 6{+t}{+h}annual Sports Day that was held at the 3 Training Battalion Hockey Ground of 1 EME Centre in the Cantonment.

The trophy was given away to Nilgiri House by Brig. J.S. Dhull, Commandant & Chairman, Army Public School, Bolarum, in the presence of his wife, Geeta Dhull.

The programme began with an invocation song by the school choir after which the school flag was hoisted by Brig. Dhull. Principal Smitha Govind presented the annual report, followed by an impressive marchpast by students of the School Cabinet, National Cadet Corps and representatives of the four Houses in the school.

Track and field events for those of classes I to X apart, there were fun races for the students and their parents too. The programme came to an end with the closing marchpast and the retreat of the school flag, after which it was handed by Brig. Dhull to the School Captain. Mrs. Dhull gave away prizes for scholastic and co-scholastic events, while the Brigadier handed over trophies to the other achievers.

Annual Day celebrations

Vibrant cultural programmes, fun and frolic marked the Annual Day celebrations of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Ukkunagaram, recently. The classical dance performed by a group of students along with Lord Ganesha enthralled the audience.

Director of projects, RINL N.S. Rao, who attended the programme as the chief guest, said that students should develop discipline and learn education skills that suit the changing scenario of the society. He stressed that students utilise the opportunity made available to them in computer technology and enhance education levels in order to become outstanding citizens of the future.

The event saw students receiving prizes for the various competitions held at the school. Senior commandant of CISF, D.K. Singh, GM (Mills) and KV management committee chairman Wilson David, Principal of the school, G. Srinivasulu, vice-principal of the school, Preethi Roy, parents and teachers also participated.

Ramanujan’s birth anniversary

Andhra University English Medium School celebrated the 125{+t}{+h} birth anniversary of noted mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan on Saturday. Students were told about the number theory and many inventions made by Ramanujan. Principal G. Vijaya Lakshmi said that Vikatakavi, an organisation formed in the school, had conducted many programmes on mathematics during the last one month. The school is organising an exhibition on mathematics on December 29.

State-level champion

Nara Madhumita of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan won the State-level chess championship in the under-14 girls’ category of school games federation. She stood first among 58 participants from different States who competed in Hyderabad. Director of the school Ch. Vasu Prakash appreciated the talent and hard work of the students for qualifying for the national level competition.

The three-day national competition is being held at Thane in Maharashtra, where schools across the country will be participating.

Christmas celebration

Soaking in the spirit of Christmas, tiny tots of Bloomingdale Play School and Kindergarten celebrated the festival in advance on the school campus on Saturday.

The entire campus was festooned with colourful streamers and balloons and a brightly decorated Christmas tree. Overriding every other emotion, a wave of cheer enveloped the school. Depicting the true essence of love, joy and peace, children enacted the Christmas play.

The presence of the shepherds, the three kings and angel Gabriel gave a sense of authenticity to the play.

The play was interspersed with carol singing by staff members.
