The Boston Celtics weren’t at their best on Wednesday night but Brandon Bass came up big down the stretch to keep the Washington Wizards winless.

Bass scored five straight points, including the go-ahead free throw with just over two minutes left in overtime, carrying the Celtics to a 100-94 victory over the visiting Wizards.

Kevin Garnett had 20 points with 13 rebounds, while Jason Terry scored 16 off the bench for the Celtics (2-2) who completed a home-and-away sweep following Saturday’s 89-86 win in Washington.

In other games, Dwyane Wade scored 22 points, LeBron James had 20 with 12 rebounds and eight assists, as the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat torched the visiting Brooklyn Nets 103-73.

Al Jefferson had 18 points with 10 rebounds and the host Utah Jazz snapped a three-game slide with a 95-86 victory over Lakers.DPA
