Tourists would be taken around in a decorated bullock cart at Amadubi, an art village in Ghatsila for a feel of rural Jharkhand.

"It is an attempt to preserve the culture and environment as well as to promote rural tourism in the state," Director of Tourism, Sidharth Tripathy said.

Tripathy said it would provide tourists an opportunity to experience rural India without harm to the environment. Amadubi village, has been taken up by the department to unveil the aspects of rural tourism in the state, he said.

The facilities at the village include tourist cottages with modern facilities which have been developed by the Jharkhand Tourism department in association with NGO 'Kalamandir- The Celluloid Chapter Art Foundation'. The village famous for its Pyatkar paintings comprised neat eco-friendly hutments with artistic borders and wall paintings.

Amadubi was the home of chitrakars (artists), who paint on scrolls made from leaves and bark of trees based on legends.

The tourist village would be completely managed and run by a committee of local people.

Tripathy said, "We have at least 150 such villages that could attract tourists across the state and would be developed in stages.”PTI
