Some say that it works wonders for both body and mind leaving one feel relaxed amidst the hectic schedule like school, studies, homework and special classes while others conclude that it gives them a feel of flying on the ground. People are drawn towards the sport as they can also dance to the music being played at the rink. Besides the glamour quotient present in the game, many parents feel that the concentration level amongst their children has improved substantially. A few of them have also noticed a considerable dip in asthma complaints,” said skating master Satyam at Shivaji Park.

Turns passion

What started off as a hobby for Divya at the age of six has turned into a passion at 14 years. “For me it is more of a passion than just a sport.

If given a choice between studies and skating, I would always prefer the latter,” she said. Twin brothers Pratham and Priyam would never miss the skating classes even for a single day. After grabbing more than 15 medals in various categories at district and State levels, they are now keen on participating at national level.

The interesting feature of the sport is that it unwinds and relaxes the skater without realising the fact that he is actually working out, another skating master at VUDA Park Akula Pavan Kumar has said.

“When you start skating at a young age, it tones the body making you flexible to switch over to any other sport in future,” he added.

Many stick to the lively sport for a long time for the simple reason that it never bores them. Also skaters feel that it is a nice way to have some extra fun with friends.
