Now ‘108’ drops back moms and newborns

The GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) that runs the popular ‘108’ service has, till August-end, handled 45 lakh pregnancy-related emergencies across 11 States and two Union Territories, including 13 lakh in Andhra Pradesh.

On Friday, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy flagged off a fleet of ambulances that also had wheels with a difference – Prototype Mother and Child Care Vehicles, exclusively meant for use to drop back at their homes mothers and newborns 48 hours after an institutional delivery. — Special Correspondent
