The world famous Sun Temple at Konark in Odisha is set to get a facelift of its periphery soon with tenders set tobe floated for execution of different jobs, official sources said.
India Oil Foundation (IOF) has been given the responsibility of taking up the peripheral development works to be carried out with an investment of Rs 32 crore.
About 55.68 acres have been identified for the purpose, they said.
Major components of this project include Construction of Interpretation Garden over an area of around 35 acres, Drop out Point over 3 acres, Interpretation Center over 4.50 acres and main parking over 13.20 acres.
The Peripheral Development Plan has also been approved by Director General of Archeological survey of India (ASI).
All the identified land are government lands now being maintained by the ASI.
The ASI authorities have been requested to allow peripheral development works to be undertaken by Indian Oil Foundation, they said.
The PuriCollector and Tahsildar have been asked to expedite the matter.PTI
