Every word uttered by Ananthu is conspicuous for one aspect, it is free of any remorse. Not even the string of adversities in his childhood is narrated with distress. “While looking back, I think they helped me immensely,” he affirms.
Twenty-two-year-old Ananthu is the winner of popular Malayalam television show Mammootty The Best Actor Award, Season 3.
A child who grew up in orphanages from the age of nine and “studied in 10 schools between Class 1 to 10” Ananthu tells a story, less of hardship and more of grit and perseverance. Since his parents separated, he found himself shuttling between various shelters, in and out of paternal custody, running from one school to another. His mother hails from Kollam and father from Thaliparamba, near here, but their whereabouts are not known to Ananthu anymore. After nearly eight years of life in orphanages, dame luck smiled on him in the guise of a sponsor, an acquaintance he values more than his life. The kind heart heard about him through a classmate of his, (Ananthu eagerly says, he is Shreekanth), and took it upon himself to provide for the child.
Ananthu studied further aspiring to become a civil servant, but a health problem distracted his dreams. Securing a degree, he plunged into a field he never thought he would end up in, the media, this time with support from another friend, Eldho Babu. A 10-day acting camp in Thrissur made him a good actor.
An offer to act in a main role in the first Malayalam directorial venture of a popular ad film-maker, a bright prospect in the film field, Ananthu’s kitty is full for the moment.
A troubled childhood, life at various orphanages, Ananthu has overcome many a hurdle before winning a popular TV show.
