More than 900 people participated in the four-km walkathon.
It was a walk for a noble cause. Scores of students and people of all age groups gathered at the Ramakrishna Beach on a Sunday morning to participate in the walkathon conducted by the Rotary Visakhapatnam Central.
The event was organised to raise funds for construction of a computer laboratory for the Rotary Zilla Parishad School at Vellanki Village.More than 900 people participated in the four-km walkathon that started from the YMCA to Kali Temple and was flagged off by the Rotary International District Governor K. Chaya Devi.
Amidst the regular morning walkers, the large congregation of people wearing colourful caps and carrying flags generated quite a stir among the general public. The event was organised in association with the "Interact Clubs" of schools like Visakha Valley, Presidential, Tiny Tots, Siva Sivani (Marripalem), Nalanda Talent School and Delhi Public School (Ukkunagaram). Students from Timpany School and AU Municipal School also participated in the walkathon.Medals, cups and shields were given away to the winners from different categories. Visakha Valley School bagged the prize for maximum participation.
