This was a unique quiz.

Interschool quizzes are always a test of wits and will. Recently Bluebells School International, Kailash Colony, proved to have both by defeating five other teams to win the Embassy of Sweden Astrid Lindgren Trophy. The aim of the quiz — which coincided with the World Book and Copyright Day — was to introduce children to the works of Sweden’s best known author for children Astrid Lindgren. Her work has been translated into 85 languages and has been published in over 100 countries. Today, she is most remembered for writing the Pippi Longstocking books, as well as Karlsson-on-the-Roof book series.

Her books “Pippi Longstocking”, “Pippi Goes to South Seas”, “Pippi Goes on Board”, “Ronja the Robber’s Daughter” and “The Children of Noisy Village” were gifted to the participating schools by the Embassy since they are not easily available in India yet.

The Chief Guest at the event, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Anders Sjöberg, congratulated the other participants as well, namely, Springdale’s School, St Mary’s School, Tagore International School, Summerfield School and Cambridge School. A quiz like this brings literature to the forefront. It exposes students to a new kind of writing and so to a new world. It is no surprise that the students had a fun yet educative experience.
