The first-ever live performance of their heroes had the youngsters cheering. There were times, long ago, when entertainment for children meant listening to grandmother tales at bedtime, which encapsulated centuries-old wisdom of the triumph of good over evil or playing simple games like hide and seek. But with times, the concept of child entertainment has undergone a paradigm shift, as was amply evident this past week at the amphitheatre in New Delhi's Ansal Plaza. Excited children, with their parents in tow, descended on the circular structure to witness the first ever-live performance of one of their favourite action heroes, The Power Rangers Dino Thunder organised by JETIX Live. As high decibel music blared, a thirty-minute high octane, action based performance unfolded on stage, as four superhero adventures performed live, to loud cheering from their young dedicated fans. It was a perfect example of the phase of interactive entertainment that is now the `happening thing', as thousands of kids followed the moves of the Power Rangers, while a few of them were given a chance to perform on the stage.Tushar Shah, Director Marketing and Communications, Walt Disney International, India, present at the event, said "In the wake of the immense popularity enjoyed by Power Rangers and JETIX in India through our channel, cartoon Network, it was high time that the fans were given a special treat, by exposing them to this genre of action and adventure, like it has been done across several countries".
StorylineDespite all the hoopla, the basis for the show remains unchanged - it is all about defending our tiny oyster that is threatened by marauding forces of evil, that are now pitted against everyday teens who morph into superheroes to defend their mother planet. Moreover, in a timeless message that emphasises the value of working together, the different rangers, equipped with separate powers, pool their resources against the forces of evil.In the jamboree that unfolded at the amphitheatre, besides the performance of the rangers, the excited kids had the chance to play games and shop in the adjoining area, and get exclusive masks distributed by the organisers.
