A seminar on `Reaching out to space' organised by the Aeronautical Society of India was held at St. Thomas Residential School, Mukkolakkal, recently. The seminar consisted of talks on `Indian space programme' by N. Narayana Moorthy, chairman AeSI and project director PSLV. Mr. Narayanamoorthy who presented the evolution of Indian space programme touched upon various aspects of satellites and launch vehicles, their applications and benefits to common man. S. Somanath, deputy projector director, GSLV MKIII, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, described the fundamentals of rockets and launch vehicles, various propulsion systems, design aspects of launch vehicles and rocket structures. Achamma Zacharia, principal of the school, and A.K. Anil Kumar secretary, AeSI also addressed the students.
