Today, we enjoy many facilities. Just by pressing a button we get whatever we want. But there are certain needs for which we still have to depend on Nature. Water is one of these.
Nearly three-fourth of the surface of the earth is covered with water. Out of which about 97 per cent is blackish or salty ocean water. Glaciers of north and south poles make up two per cent of earth’s freshwater and the remaining one per cent is the useable water we get from the snow-covered mountains, rivers, lakes and from under the ground.
On Earth, water is life. One of the advantages we have on earth is the hydrological cycle — the natural process by which water gets recycled.
Water has to be sparingly used. Rain water should be collected. We have to adopt environmental-friendly lifestyles. Let us all pledge to protect the environment and preserve water for our future.
