It's a new lease of life for the 400-year-old Badeshahi Ashoor Khana in Hyderabad. This Qutub Shahi era monument may soon be renovated, if the proposals of the State Department of Tourism are accepted. The Ashoor Khana was built in 1594 by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah three years after the Charminar. But then over the years, encroachers had taken over the place and no one could visit it. Finally, a High Court order cleared the encroachments. A plan with an estimate of Rs 4.36 cr for restoration of the Ashoor Khana and the adjoining buildings was presented to the tourism secretary, Rajan Habeeb Khaja. If the plan is accepted then Ashoor Khana could well become a prime tourist destination.
