It was a dark evening. The arrival of the rainy season is welcome. The last few weeks were hot. Rivers had become half their size. Today the rays of the sun peep out through clouds. It was a heavy tropical downpour. When the rain drops hit the tin roof it made a rhythmic sound. It went on. It was a pleasant experience. All around was lush greenery. Weeds sprouted and the boundary of plots disappeared. Wet walls were prone to the attack of creepers. A rat snake crawled on the stone pavement. The orchestra of crickets was entertaining. The distant hills were covered by mist. We could hear the sound of thunder. Lightning gave a sudden glimpse of what lay outside.
