Emerge as leaders of technology.

How about sumo fights with robot? Yes! You can even play soccer with robots. Learn how to make different kinds of robot this summer. For the first time in Hyderabad, Thinklabs robo.in, a division of The Robotics Institute (TRI) brings Robocamp after conducting sessions in different parts of India. The robocamp is being conducted for children between Stds. IV to XII in association with reliance world. Started in December 2005, TRI aims to inculcate the practical knowledge and demonstrate the power of mathematics and science. “In Japan and China, robotics is a part of their curriculum, hence they emerge as good leaders of technology. In India, we concentrate more on theory. To imbibe the practical knowledge in those children who have a drive towards science, we have organized this camp” says Pranav Gargeswari, Trainer cum Engineer, TRI. The Robocamp is a six-day workshop, two hour each day. The camp is divided into two segments. One is juniors from Std. IV to VI and second segment is VII to XII. While the juniors learn how to build remote-controlled robots which can lift objects and throw objects, the seniors learn autonomous robots, where the robots are fitted with sensors in their main organ known as the brick. The children are taught how to install the programs in the brick and which the sound of a clap or by sensing a wall, the robots perform different kinds of operations.

Get going

At the end of the workshop, the juniors enjoy playing soccer with the remote-controlled robots which can lift and throw the football while the seniors arrange for sumo fights with their autonomous robots. For those of you who are interested but are skeptical about the basics, the camp ensured you learn the basics before trying your hands on the various kinds of robots.

“This camp teaches us not only physics but also biology as we have to compare some of the robots with animals and then design them. Also, we have learnt so much here and practically do it as well. ” echo Dheeraj and Pratheek , of Std. X, Delhi Public School.

Also, there would a competition conducted for the robot lovers during Deepavali. The competition would judge the robots of the participants in various parameters and the champion would be sent to NASA. Robocamp is being conducted at Reliance World stores located in Begumpet, Banjara Hills, Kondapur, Dilsukhnagar and Himayatnagar till May 29.
