Tirupati: It was book time again…
Students of various schools converged at Sri Venkateswara High School grounds in Tirupati at the sixth ‘”Tirupati Book Festival”.
Kids had a field day during the nine-day expo, which was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police (Tirupati Urban) J.Prabhakar Rao and Amara Raja group Chairman Ramachandra N.Galla.
Forty renowned publishers from across the country set up stalls on the sprawling playgrounds at the expo organised by the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Tirupati Kendra. The topics ranged from comics to culture, algorithms to astrophysics, science to spirituality, ecology to entertainment, philosophy to physical fitness and many more.
The organisers conducted a quiz on “Books and authors” for school children and a debate on “Influence of Internet on book reading” for college students.
The fancy dress presentation for nursery kids on “famous scholars and authors” was a hit, as the tiny tots came dressed as Mahakavi Kalidas, Tallapaka Annamacharya, Srikrishna Devaraya, Tenali Ramakrishna, Tarigonda Vengamamba, Balagangadhar Tilak, Swami Vivekananda, Avvaiyar, Gurazada Appa Rao, Subramanya Bharathi and Arundhati Roy and other eminent figures.
“There was tremendous response from book lovers to the expo. Students from various schools made a beeline to the shops”, says N.Satyanarayana Raju, the Director of Bhavan's Tirupati Kendra.
TTD's Executive Officer L.V.Subrahmanyam and SVIMS Director B.Vengamma were guests at the closing ceremony.
