Experiential camps are a fun way to introduce youngsters to outdoor activities and teach them to be one with nature. This is based on the concept of "learning holidays" and the five-day programme is for children in the age group of nine to 17. This year, a series of camps are being organised at intervals, beginning mid April to May end.
The camps will be held at Jungle Bells, Tyda, near Vishakapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Jungle Bells is promoted as a hub of tribal tourism by the government of Andhra Pradesh and part of the camp activities for the children include interaction with the tribals. Some of the aspects of the programme are to encourage children to work as a team and to help them achieve individual goals. The idea is connect children to nature and to encourage them to think out of the box in different surroundings. Each camp is supervised by facilitators and accompanied by a doctor as well. A typical day begins with a wake-up call at 6.30 am and is followed by a mind rejuvenating activity. Activities are held all through the day with lights-off at 10.30pm.
