Amudham Matric H.S. School, Perungudi, celebrated the 75th birthday of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as Students' Day in the school premises recently. To create awareness on the consequences of global warming, the school also organised "Vanamahotsava". Students of Stds. V and VI planted 100 saplings. Competitions were also conducted. Amudham Matric H.S. School won the first prize in quiz, while BMS Matric H.S. School and Anbu Niketan Matric H.S. School won the second and third prizes respectively. David Chandra Kumar of Sarawathy Narayanan College conducted the quiz programme and distributed prizes to the winners. Human Rights Club, Madurai, and Muthucheliyan, Head, Department of Energy and Environment, Madurai Kamaraj University, donated the saplings.
