I attended the” Beating Retreat” ceremony of 63{+r}{+d}Republic Day celebration held in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan. I felt very lucky. Lucky because I saw Pratibha Patil, the President of India standing as soldiers from Army, Navy and Air Force saluted and paid their respects. I was excited to see drummers, buglers, slow and fast marchers performing in sync. Commanders of the groups had full co-operation from their team and even drummers looked as if they had magic in their sticks. Bagpipes sounded like busy bees singing as in orchestra. I felt patriotic as I sang the National Anthem in the beginning and towards the end with all dignitaries and band members present there. I retreated from the ceremony with a feeling of gratification for our soldiers who safeguard our lives day and night. Salutes to our ever-ready soldiers and their families because of who we live peacefully in free India. Vande Mataram!
