PATHANAMTHITTAIt was a field day for children at the Believers’ Church Residential School at Kuttappuzha near Thiruvalla when the school authorities decided to celebrate Teachers’ Day with a difference.
For once, the students could don the role of the principal as well as the teachers and take on the responsibilities of a teacher at the mock classrooms held in the forenoon session. The school head girl, Remya Mariyam Thomas, was chosen to don the role of principal while the head boy, Rony Paul Koshy, donned the higher secondary co-ordinator’s garb at the ‘mock school’ programme on September 5.
Children of class X and XII managed the classes from KG to class XII, till 1 pm. “It took several days to train and rehearsals to organise the programme ”says Ms Santha Mathai, principal.Students conducted the morning assembly. Apart from various speeches, cultural programmes too were held to mark the occasion. For the teachers, it was an occasion to unwind and get pampered by their students. Teachers’ Day is celebrated across the country on the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India and a great philosopher and educationist.
