With regard to “Light in the heart of darkness” by Nirmala Lakshman (November 14), it is with a deep sense of joy that I write this letter. I read and re-read the sensitive review of the book Let the Great World Spin. The writing had a classicism which was at once simple and honest. I experienced a feeling of déjà vu as the writer brought some good old memories back of almost a bygone era....of my English Professor, Dr. Soumitra Chakravarthy, who spoke to us of Conway, in James Hilton's Lost Horizon. All I can say is that I look forward to this kind of beautiful writing where the writer manages to look into the soul of the characters almost with the same passion that McCann must have felt.
