Hats off to the city of Namakkal (The Making of an Eco-City, April 9), which has been able to create its mark at an international forum. It shows that, besides the administration, the common man has also to work for the city.Sanskriti Rastogi
New DelhiR. Sujatha's article made interesting reading. This small town's efforts in providing cleaner roads and greener environment of international standards need to be appreciated. Namakkal has also proved that garbage can be converted into profitable products of common use by rebuilding and recycling.Dr. C.V. Jayamani,
ThiruvananthapuramHats off to Namakkal, which has won the ISO 14001 accreditation - the first of its kind in India. Thanks are due to people like S. Gandhiselvan and G.M Saraswathi who made the change possible. May their tribe increase so that more towns become eco friendly.Kannan
ChennaiNamakkal's success story was fascianting to read. It is good to note that the movement remained absolutely apolitical and neutral. Namakkal is an outstanding role model for other districts. Once civic consciousness percolates among the citizens, every district will be eco-friendly and clean. Bharathy Varadarajan
