Guessing the raaga correctly culminating in the joy of discovery is the mark of a knowledgeable music lover in the South. "Bhagavathar: An anecdote of the Seventies" (Magazine, December 25) is a fine sketch. Sashi Kumar has narrated the anecdote brilliantly. A Southerner would find it easy to envision the scene. An exposure to the South is needed for the ardent appreciation of the piece. Dr. V.V.B. Rama Rao
