THE forgotten mill workers in Mumbai seem to have found a new champion. Director MAHESH MANJREKAR has decided to make a film on the issue. "I am researching on it," said Manjrekar. "Tell me even as huge lands are being put up for development where are these forgotten faces? Does anybody know what happened to hundreds of men and their families? How they live, whether they are dead or alive? How can we just forget them?" asks Manjrekar. He insists that society has to give them their due. Manjrekar hopes to be able to track down some of the more tedious court cases, which the workers and their unions have been fighting for years now. "Somebody has got to bring this out to the fore," said Manjrekar. SUCHITRA BEHAL
