Taking a break from a hectic work schedule can do wonders, finds out producer-director Kunal Kohli.

Well known producer-director Kunal Kohli describes himself in a modest way. “Not a great gym guy,” he says, explaining he usually doesn’t get much time for wellness vacations. “Our busy lives are an exercise in itself,” he says. But a few months ago, he had been “in urgent need of relaxation,” so he decided to go to Chennai’s Fisherman’s Cove.

He relates the experience. “This place is at Kovalam Beach. It has a very nice spa facility and swimming pool. I did everything to pamper myself there. I went to their spa, got my tired muscles relaxed by massage. The best thing that I liked about it was that it was completely away from the city’s humdrum. And no one hounded me for pictures and autographs, even on the road nearby.”

Relief in anonymity

He is well known because of his films like “Hum Tum”, “Fanaa” and now “Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic”. “Not exactly,” he says. “These people don’t know Bollywood much. That’s why I had a more relaxed time than I could have had anywhere else,” he adds.

Kunal also feels “magical” when he thinks of Chaiyam, four hours away from Bangkok — a place he has just visited. “We had gone there to shoot a part of “Thoda Pyar…” This place was good enough to relax and rejuvenate; I lived in a suite of a nice hotel. It had a great spa and a private swimming pool. Nothing could be more relaxing than just getting a normal massage there and utilising the spa services. I felt loaded with the people’s warmth there. They have especially trained reflexologists who give you heavenly foot massage. Your tired feet become so light. I think we have imported quite a lot of such trained people in India also. Because tourism is Thailand’s main industry, they make the tourists feel very special. Though I stayed there only for two-three days, it gave the happiness of a lifetime,” he concludes.
