The Tamil Nadu government will improve the road infrastructure in the State at an investment of Rs. 2,980 crore this financial year.

The amount will be used to widen and strengthen the existing roads, construct bridges, provide adequate drainage system and build new bypass roads. The State Highways will spend Rs 1,021.26 crore to widen 55 km to two lanes and to strengthen 1,170 km of roads.
