People in West Delhi can now expect hassle-free registration of properties with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit launching an online system to ensure transparency and offer property buyers a seamless experience.
Under the new system, people will be able to get their properties registered on the same day of filing of application.
Introducing it at the Basai Darapur sub-registrar’s office in West Delhi, Ms. Dikshit said, “The Revenue Department intends to overhaul the conventional registration process with state-of-the-art online facilities.”
The system will be highly secured by ensuring audit trail and cross-verification of transactions. Officials said it would eliminate the role of middlemen in the registration process.
Delhi Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said the Revenue Department was determined to rid the property registration system of touts by making the entire registration process transparent and accessible.
An official said that under the new system, each applicant would have to take an appointment to come to the sub-registrar’s office. The appointment could be taken online on the website of the department. The registered documents will be delivered to the applicant the same day. If the documents were to be rejected, they would be given the reasons in writing. The Basai Darapur office is the fifth in the city to have the online property registration system.
The government plans to introduce the online registration service in all 13 sub-registrar’s offices by the year-end.
The facility has been introduced in the offices at Mehrauli, Rohini, Nand Nagri and Kapashera.
“The entire process of registration has been re-engineered, making it hassle-free,” Ms. Dikshit said. — PTI
