Green Tree Homes and Ventures, a real estate company from Chennai, has announced its plans to bring in a full-suite building and infrastructure solution with prefabrication technology, design and logistics for its upcoming projects. The prefabrication construction is energy efficient and largely reduces construction time by almost 50 percent, a press release from the company informed. It reduces wastage and gives better quality finish than that of conventionally constructed buildings.

As part of the technology, the structures are prefabricated in factories and delivered to the site almost complete. Pre-fabricated structures have significant advantages over conventionally constructed buildings, in terms of cost, quality and the life cycle management.

Modular or prefabricated houses have become accepted in the west, especially in the US, though it is yet to catch up in India, it said, and said every Green Tree project will involve several factory-built components or units that are assembled on-site to complete the unit.
