This might require some skill, but Kadukka Nirachathu is worth the effort, believe the connoisseurs.

Kadukka Nirchathu

Ingredients

Mussels (kadukka) with shell 25

Boiled rice Half kg

Coconut, shredded 1 cup

Shallots 50 gms

Chilly powder 100 gms

Oil for frying 200 ml

Salt to taste

Rice powder 100 gms

Method

Open the kadukka with shell and clean from both sides. Mix boiled rice with coconut, onion and salt and grind it. Fill the mixture into the kadukka and then steam the kadukka for 30 minutes. Prepare a mixture of rice powder and chilly powder and roll the kadukka in it and fry it in oil for about 10 minutes.
