Smoking and drinking are killers of life and peace. But seeing smoking scenes in films probably influences millions of youth. Drinking not only kills drunkards but also others when they drive under the influence of alcohol. Indeed, the Government’s order banning smoking and drinking scenes in movies is welcome. Today, film stars are worshipped like icons and their behaviour is imitated. The Government has taken the right step to prevent youth from being misguided. I request the Government to move a step forward by suggesting to the film industry to give valuable words of wisdom in their productions. Messages on values can be incorporated in the storyline and blended with the screenplay which would have a greater impact on society.
