CHAT K.K. Binojee on his upcoming film Login

The digital revolution has inspired many a filmmaker in the last decade. K.K. Binojee and team are no different; their film Login is set against the backdrop of a generation dependant on the World Wide Web.

“The film, by the banner Cocktail Pictures, is a typical Bollywood entertainer,” says K.K. Binojee, the writer and lyricist of the film.

While Binojee has worked in Telugu films such as Gaayam, Current and now Paisa , he wrote Login completely in Hindi. This is no surprise as Binojee has not only completed his M.Phil in Hindi Literature from Osmania University but was also a gold medallist there.

His expertise in Hindi ensured that work came looking for him. “If anyone wants something written in pure Hindi, without the Hyderabadi slang, they come to me,” he says.

Login is set in 21st century Mumbai and focuses on the lives of three individuals — Jai, Vandana and Debu. Jai is a young professional who is desperate to meet girls on dating websites. Vandana, on the other hand, is a housewife who turns to social networking to kill time but becomes addicted to it. Debu, a call centre employee uses the internet to make money. How the Internet affects the lives of these three characters forms the crux of the story. The film, a thriller, is directed at anyone who uses the internet on a day-to-day basis, says Binojee.

So how is the small budget film being marketed? “We are associated with Cinemax and the movie will be released in their multiplexes on October 12, 2012,” says Binojee.
