Car and bike questions? We have the answers

I plan to buy my first car. I am looking at a car between Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 6.5 lakh. My monthly running would be around 800km on the highway for weekend drives. Please give your suggestions.

Taking into consideration the running of the car, we would suggest that you look at the Swift diesel. With its smart interiors and striking performance that's matched by fuel efficiency, the Swift should definitely be an option you should check out.

I drive a Maruti Swift, and plan to upgrade to an SUV/MUV in the range Rs. 9 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh (can be extended). It should have a monthly mileage of around 1,500km. I prefer a vehicle with strong road presence, loaded with features. It should be easy to maintain and a pleasure to drive. I have shortlisted Mahindra Scorpio and Toyota Innova, but is there any new model worth waiting for? Please advise.

The Innova is better engineered and built. But, it doesn't match your requirements. It doesn't have the road presence and is not much fun to drive either. The Innova has enough space, but, for just four people, the Scorpio offers adequate space and comfort. The Scorpio will be more suitable for you, as there is nothing on the horizon that will come close or even a little beyond your budget.
