TVS' trusty 125cc warrior finally gets a welcome makeover

The Victor GLX has always been one of those bikes we hold in good esteem. It has weathered the onslaught of newer 125cc models and our only grouse was the absence of alloy wheels on the package. Now that wish too has been granted, with smart alloys available as an option. New graphics also make an entry - thankfully, they aren't too much of a shock to look at.The styling of the GLX has been conservative from the start and the little changes about help spice up the otherwise staid bike. The instrument binnacle is very legible, and has always been a plus point of the Victor, as is the aluminum fuel filler lid. This bike is one of very few 125s that offer an alloy triple clamp and hand grips. An engine kill switch is added to the top quality levers and switchgear. The bike's fuel tank is rounded, while its side and tail fairing bits fit snugly into one another. A broad and smiley tail section helps keep this bike easily recognisable as a TVS product. A self-started variant will also be in the market shortly. The Victor GLX is still powered by that familiar air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine, and it misses out on TVS' new VT-i technology. Its block displaces 124.8cc, and we must say is a bit disappointing in output - 10 bhp at 7,500 rpm. A great boon however is its smooth four-speed, all-up gearbox. Another large plus point is silken power delivery, which is void of any engine vibrations. And it's no failure when it comes to delivering good fuel economy either. The Victor GLX offers a nice riding position and its wide handlebars make for comfort through crowded city roads. The box section swingarm mated to the gas-charged rear suspension deliver good ride quality, as well as decent and nimble handling. The Victor GLX isn't class leading, but it has always been a smart 125cc bike with decent all-round capability. It has just got a little better and is a safe bet you can't go wrong with.
