Of handlooms, handicrafts and jewellery from across the country till June 18
The diverse craft forms of the country in their vivid hues come alive at an exhibition, organised by Rajasthan Artisans, at the C.P. Art Centre, Eldams Road, Alwarpet.On display is a wide range of handicrafts, handlooms and jewellery, all crafted meticulously by skilled artisans. Among the exhibits are Jaipur paintings, terracotta, wood and papier mache dolls, artefacts in black and white metal and bronze icons from Rajasthan; Kashmiri wooden crafts, torans and wall hangings; appliqué worked wall hangings and palm leaf paintings from Orissa; dry fruit boxes from Gujarat; and antique Chettinad artefacts.The handloom section has a stunning range of saris - patola, chanderi, Andhra cotton, kota and more. Also available are block printed, chikan and phulkari worked salwar kurta sets, ghagra cholis, skirts and tops with mirror work from Gujarat and mobile pouches.Neck pieces, rings and earrings embellished with precious and semi-precious stones, as well as silver jewellery are on display. Lac bangles in various colours are another attraction.More than 40 varieties of mouth freshners are also available.The exhibition is on till June 18.
