DakshinaChitra celebrates Telugu New YearDakshinaChitra is all set to celebrate Ugadi Utsav, Telugu New Year, from March 2 to 11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Folk performances, handicrafts and the special cuisine of Andhra Pradesh will mark the festival.Ten male folk artistes will present Dappu, a vigorous dance form performed to the beat of a tambourine-like drum. Andhra delicacies will be served at Kanali, the restaurant at DakshinaChitra. The crafts shop will have textiles ranging from Kalamkari and ikkat to block-printed Mangalgiri saris. There will be toys and artefacts from Etikopakka, Chennapatna, Cherial and Kalamkari paintings. DakshinaChitra will also organise a Cherial mask and painting workshop on March 10 and 11.
